Candace M. Keller is Associate Professor of African Art and Material Culture in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University. As core faculty in African Studies and Global Studies in the Arts and Humanities, and affiliate faculty in African and African American Studies, she collaborates with diverse units and colleagues on campus, mentors students in varied disciplines and stages of their career, and works with community partners in local, national, and international contexts.
She joined MSU faculty in 2008 and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Alliance for African Partnership and on the Advisory Committee of the African Studies Center. She is the History of Art Area Coordinator and Undergraduate Advisor and serves as an Adjunct Curator at the MSU Museum. Working with MATRIX at MSU and partners in Mali, West Africa, since 2011, she directs the Archive of Malian Photography funded by the British Library and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
